This needs to be shared. I would never want to change Jamiesons identity and ABA doesn’t do that. It lets him figure out how to communicate in his own way. It’s a disability. Even when he is very high functioning and we are so happy how far he has come to not call it a disability is making it hard for the non verbal kids who struggle a lot more. We don’t want to change their identity and I can agree society needs to accept everyone but at the end of the day we want kids to have all the tools they can to be able to grow! Let’s not stop them from this because we are worried about being seen as wanting to cure your child. Everyone wants what is best for their child! Let them get that.
